How Was the Mural Born?

Have you ever wondered how a mural comes to life? Where does the process begin, and how does it evolve into the final masterpiece? Let me take you through my creative process.

It all starts with a new client reaching out to me through WhatsApp. One day, I received a message from a client who was expecting a baby. They had prepared a room for their newborn, painted it in a soft pink, and wanted a mural to complement the space. They asked for a professional artist to create something special for their daughter.

I asked, “What style do you envision for the mural? Is there a specific character or theme you'd like?” The client responded, “We have a few ideas, but we're still undecided.” I suggested, “Please send me the images you’re considering, and we can figure it out together.” After reviewing the pictures, we decided on a beautiful swan surrounded by flowers.

Once we finalized the design, we agreed on the price and scheduled the painting day. I asked the client to prepare the room by moving any furniture away from the walls and to print out the drawing I would be using as a reference.

This is where the mural's journey truly begins: from concept to reality, and each step is carefully crafted to ensure the final artwork brings joy and beauty to the space.

Customer's home

The big day arrives, and I head to the client's home, fully equipped with all the materials I'll need: acrylic paints, brushes, pencils, palettes, and protective nylons. Upon arriving at the room where I'll be painting, my first step is to cover the floor with plastic sheets. Although I work with great care and rarely spill any paint, I always take the extra precaution to ensure no paint touches the floor.

Once the room is prepped, I choose the wall that will best showcase the mural – a spot where it will be clearly visible and unobstructed by furniture. With the perfect wall selected, I begin sketching the design in pencil. After reviewing and refining the sketch to my satisfaction, I begin painting with acrylics. I can usually complete an entire mural in a single, focused workday, hardly taking any breaks.

Throughout the process, I check in with the client, asking if there are any additional changes they'd like or if they’re happy with the direction of the piece. By the time I’m finished, the client brings their whole family to see the mural. Their smiles and satisfaction are always the best part of the job. The client is so pleased that they say they will share my contact information and recommend my work to others. There's no greater compliment than that!
