How was a mural born?
Share
Have you ever wondered how a mural is born ? Where does it start, and how is it ultimately created?
Let me tell you about my working method.
At home
It all starts with a new client. The client contacts me via WhatsApp. He says they will soon have a daughter, and they have prepared a room for her. They painted the room pink, and they want a professional painter to paint a mural that matches the newborn.
I ask the client: “What style would you like me to draw? Is there a particular character you want?”
The client replies: “We have some ideas in the pictures, we haven’t decided exactly yet.”
I say: “Please send me the pictures you’re debating between, and we’ll decide together on a painting.”
The client sends the photos, and we decide together on a character that the client chose for us to paint in the room, and in this case the character is a swan with flowers.
We agree on a price, set a day for me to come paint, and ask him to prepare the room so I can start painting:
He will move all the furniture that touches the walls, and print out the drawing he wants me to draw.
Customer's home
The day arrives, I travel to the client's home, with all my equipment: acrylic paints, brushes, pencils, nylons, and palettes.
When I arrive at the room where I will paint, I first spread plastic sheets on the floor so that the floor doesn't get dirty from the paint (I work very cleanly and there are hardly any drops on the floor, but I put the plastic down just to be safe so that not a single drop spills).
After I spread out the nylons, I choose the wall that is most suitable in the room for painting so that it will be visible enough without being obstructed by furniture.
Then, I draw the sketch that will constitute the painting itself in pencil, and after I am satisfied enough with how the sketch looks, I begin painting with acrylic paints.
I can finish an entire mural in a day's work, I work very focused without breaks.
In the middle of the work, or towards the end, I ask the client what other things he would like to change in the painting, or continue with the same mindset.
After I finish, the client brings his whole family to show the painting, everyone is very satisfied and happy.
The customer says he will give my phone number to other people and recommend me.
